Óyá is one of the celebrated deities of Yoruba mythology and is depicted, as reflecting power, grace, and poise.
Óyá carries in her determined and pointed look the doggedness and righteous anger of the powerful African lioness. As such, in Africa womanhood is not weak and impotent, but instead powerful. Inspired by the power of African feminism, Óyá is brazenly strong. Her poise is characteristic of power and wealth, just like the African goddesses.
