I am Ngassi André Joël, a young artist originally from Western Cameroon, practicing in visual arts. I was born on December 27, 1988, in Mbalmayo, approximately 50 kilometers from Yaoundé, in the central region of Cameroon. My journey into art began during my primary and secondary studies in the same city, where I developed a deep connection with shapes, volumes, and colors from a very young age.
Encouraged by my parents to channel my passion constructively, I was admitted to the Mbalmayo Artistic Training Institute after a competition. Despite financial challenges, I pursued my studies there until completion, obtaining my AF2 Baccalaureate in Painting after obtaining my CAP (Certificate of Professional Aptitude) and AF2 Probatory. Subsequently, I pursued a degree in Plastic Arts and Art History at the University of Yaoundé 1, graduating in 2012.
Following five years of university education, I temporarily interrupted my Master’s studies due to financial constraints and a desire to seek more engaging opportunities. Despite the challenging circumstances faced by young students, I found myself compelled to halt my university education permanently. Instead, I offered my services as a consultant in graphic communication firms and provided art lessons.
These experiences enriched my artistic journey, offering valuable insights beyond the confines of academia. Passionate about art, I embarked on various projects and endeavors, participating in exhibitions and competitions both locally and internationally. Some notable highlights include:
