July 2022 Grant/Competitions/Open Calls for African Visual Artists

Jul 6, 2022

Earlier this year, we shared 6 grant opportunities that Visual Artists/Creatives from Africa could take advantage of to access much-needed funds and take their art careers to the next level.

We are now halfway through the year and we figured now is a good time to share even more grant opportunities for those that might have missed our first blog.

We still have 6 months – well technically 5 months + a few days – left in the year to relentlessly pursue the goals you set for yourself at the start of the year and achieve them.

One of these grant opportunities might be all you need to go from where you are now to where you want to be. So why not go for it?

2. 15th International Festival of Art on Billboards

Artists are invited to prepare an artwork in response to this year’s competition theme: Love or hatred? Truth or falsehood? What should we appreciate in these uncertain times?

Recent months and years have been marked by constant uncertainty. The lives of individuals and whole societies are no longer predictable.

We are facing one crisis after another, without any break. The pandemic is not over yet, and the war in Ukraine broke out.

Reality looks unstable, unpredictable, and full of chaos and turmoil. Particular societies and the entire humanity need to face never-ending challenges, dangers and disasters.

How should we live in these tough times and reinvent ourselves? What is important? What can help us make sense of what is going on, what we are experiencing and what we are going through? How to find hope? What can we rely on and what should we choose? What should we stand for?

There are loads of questions about what kind of world we want and what reality we would like to live in. In the world based on the rules of love or hatred, truth or falsehood? What should we appreciate in these uncertain times?

The 6 most interesting works will be displayed on billboards in the city space during the Art Moves Festival in September 2022 in Torun, Poland.

The author of the most interesting work will receive the Main Award in the amount of $937.20 USD
