GRANTS 

Werner Fenz Grant for Art in Public Space 2024

The Werner Fenz Grant is designed to promote art that gives a critical impetus to public space and social change, art that “assumes social responsibility” (Werner Fenz) and seeks to engage citizens.

Projects can deal with economic, political, social, ecological, architectural, or urban development issues. They should contribute to the discourse on current forms of art in public space and address the sociopolitical context of the city of Graz and the province of Styria.

The focus is on temporary projects that infiltrate everyday life and latch onto existing public structures.

Amount: €17,000 (12,000 are dedicated to the realization of the artwork and 5,000 to the artist’s fee)

Pollock Krasner Foundation

The Pollock Krasner Foundation provides financial resources for visual artists to create new work, acquire supplies, rent studio space, prepare for exhibitions, attend a residency and offset living expenses. 

Amount:  Amounts range up to $30,000

Eligibility: Visual artists who are painters, sculptors and artists who work on paper, including printmakers.

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants available to emerging representational artists, as well as one of the most substantial. 

Amount: 1st grants: CAD $17,000; Subsequent grants:  CAD $20,000

The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need.

Amount:$5,000 typically granted; $15,000 max

RESIDENCIES, OPEN CALLS & COMPETITIONS 

In Practice Open Call

SculptureCenter is pleased to announce that our annual open call for artists is now open. In Practice 2024 will generate a yearlong series of solo presentations.

We invite artists who have not yet had an institutional solo exhibition in New York City to submit proposals for solo exhibitions in designated gallery spaces at SculptureCenter.

Artists are also invited to propose off-site projects, publishing initiatives, performances, and nontraditional formats, which will be considered based on feasibility.

Up to seven artists will be selected to participate in the program from spring 2024 to winter 2025. Each exhibition will be on view for approximately four to six weeks.

Budget: Up to $6000

L+A+N+D (Landscape + Art + Nature + Design)

Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest is thrilled to announce the launch of L+A+N+D (Landscape + Art + Nature + Design), an exciting, new initiative that annually celebrates innovative design concepts for immersive outdoor installations on a grand scale that will spark imaginations, conversations, and a deeper appreciation of the natural world.

Designed and constructed by artists, architects, landscape architects, designers, and creatives, successful L+A+N+D proposals provide experiences with topics addressing humans – connection to nature, beauty in the landscape, biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, and climate change.

The selected experiences are implemented via a stipend to the applicant(s), and a construction budget for fabrication and installation expenses.

4th Water International Juried Art Competition

TERAVARNA announces their “4th WATER International Juried Art Competition.

All visual artists from around the world are invited to submit their best artworks on the theme for inclusion in the exhibition.

All types of art styles may be submitted, including both 2D and 3D works, painting, sculpture, digital, printmaking, fiber, photography, graphic, mixed media, as well as experimental and installation works.

The theme of this international juried art competition is WATER. Intimately familiar to us all, we emerge from the womb clinging to it, and spend a lifetime wading through it at every turn.

Even life forms that don’t need oxygen for their survival absolutely need water, such is its preciousness. The visual representation of water, in any of its myriad forms, is acceptable for this contest.

Artists are free to apply their own interpretation in representing the overall theme. Representational and abstract ideas based broadly on this theme, in any media, will be considered. 

Award: $3,500 in guaranteed cash prizes will be given out to 75-125 winning artists.

Willapa Bay AiR Residency

Willapa Bay AiR, situated on 20 acres in coastal southwest Washington, United States launched its residency program in March 2014.

The Residency has been specifically designed, from the site selection to the architecturally specific building concepts, layouts, and materials, to combine the opportunity for solitude with the opportunity for daily community that fosters creative endeavor.

They offer month-long, self-directed residencies to emerging and established artists, filmmakers, writers, playwrights, scholars, singer/songwriters, and musical composers.

The Residency provides lodging, meals, and work space, at no cost, to six residents each month from April 1 through October 28 of the year.

Applications are evaluated by selection committees comprised of working artists and professionals in the applicants’ respective fields of discipline.
