This artwork features a beautiful African woman adorned in a traditional Yoruba headwrap called “GELE,” symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of West Africa. The GELE is a well-known attire beloved by many across the continent, reflecting the essence of cultural symbols and values.

However, amidst the serene portrayal of the woman, there is a disturbing element present. She is surrounded by chains, symbolizing bondage, which seem to materialize and vanish intermittently, suggesting a struggle with inner turmoil.

Despite her efforts to remain composed, the woman is haunted by her captivity, unable to escape the agony it brings. The artwork explores the spiritual connection between the living and departed souls, depicting the enduring bond between them when life held greater meaning.
