GRANTS 

The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant

The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.

Please note that these grants are available only to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more.

20 grants are awarded each year. Applications are reviewed by a panel of five professionals in the arts who have no affiliation with the Foundation. 

Amount:(20) $25,000

Deadline: January 17, 2024

2024 Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant

The Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant was established so that ceramic sculpture artists or sculptors of diverse mediums may have the opportunity to devote a substantial period of time to the development of his or her own work.

Each year the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers three grants (up to $50,000, $20,000, $10,000) to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. Artists may be at any career development stage, from emerging to mature. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline. We welcome and encourage international applicants.

Amount: $60,000 first place, $30,000 second place, $20,000 third place

Deadline: February 1, 2024

Pollock Krasner Foundation

The Pollock Krasner Foundation provides financial resources for visual artists to create new work, acquire supplies, rent studio space, prepare for exhibitions, attend a residency and offset living expenses. 

Amount:  Amounts range up to $30,000

Eligibility: Visual artists who are painters, sculptors and artists who work on paper, including printmakers.

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants available to emerging representational artists, as well as one of the most substantial. 

Amount: 1st grants: CAD $17,000; Subsequent grants:  CAD $20,000

The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need.

Amount:$5,000 typically granted; $15,000 max

Deadline: Rolling

The inaugural “Open Theme” International Competition and Online Exhibition is an inclusive opportunity for artists worldwide.

This competition welcomes participants of all ages, transcending restrictions on media or style.

The chosen theme, “Open,” empowers artists to create and submit works across a spectrum of subject matters or themes of their choosing.

Deadline: January 17, 2024

Award Info: $1,000 cash prize

Application Fee: Free; Only those selected as finalists will be required to pay a participation fee of $35
