GRANTS 

Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC)

AFAC welcomes proposals from individuals from Arab countries (22 member states of the Arab League), regardless of their place of residence, citizenship, or ethnic and national identification.

AFAC also accepts proposals from local, regional, and international institutions and organizations whose projects are related to arts and culture from the Arab region. These include artistic and cultural institutions, galleries, venues, and both nonprofit and for-profit entities.

AFAC’s Visual Arts grant supports the production and exhibition of painting, sculpture, photography, installations, video and sound art, art publications, and multimedia works.

The Visual Arts grant program provides annual grants of up to USD 20,000 for individuals and teams, and up to USD 35,000 for collectives and institutions.

Amount:

$20,000 for individuals and teams

$35,000 for collectives and institutions.

The Awesome Foundation Grant

The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time.

Each fully autonomous chapter supports awesome projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. These micro-grants, $1000 or the local equivalent, come out of the pockets of the chapter’s “trustees” and are given on a no-strings-attached basis to people and groups working on awesome projects.

Every chapter interprets “awesome” for itself. As such, awesome projects include initiatives in a wide range of areas including arts, technology, community development, and more. Many awesome projects are novel or experimental, and evoke surprise and delight. Awesome sometimes challenges and often inspires.

Amount: $1,000

Pollock Krasner Foundation

The Pollock Krasner Foundation provides financial resources for visual artists to create new work, acquire supplies, rent studio space, prepare for exhibitions, attend a residency and offset living expenses. 

Amount:  Amounts range up to $30,000

Eligibility: Visual artists who are painters, sculptors and artists who work on paper, including printmakers.

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant

The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants available to emerging representational artists, as well as one of the most substantial. 

Amount: 1st grants: CAD $17,000; Subsequent grants:  CAD $20,000

The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need.

Amount:$5,000 typically granted; $15,000 max

COMPETITIONS & OPEN CALLS

Open Themed Art Competition

“Open Themed” is a platform for artists to showcase their unique perspectives, experiences, and emotions through their chosen medium. From paintings to sculptures, digital art to mixed media, participants are encouraged to experiment with techniques and materials to bring their visions to life.

The theme of this competition is openness itself. Artists are free to interpret this theme in any way they see fit, whether it’s exploring the concept of openness in nature, society, emotions, or the human mind. It’s an opportunity for artists to delve into the complexities of what it means to be open, whether it’s embracing vulnerability, welcoming diversity, or breaking down barriers.

As the theme suggests, “Open Themed” encourages artists to break free from constraints and let their creativity flow unrestricted. It’s a celebration of artistic freedom and innovation, where each submission adds to the rich tapestry of human expression.

“Aesthetic Anomalies” Award Competition

“Aesthetic Anomalies” beckons artists to traverse the realms of the unexpected and the unconventional, reveling in the beauty found within the irregular, the peculiar, and the strikingly unique.

This competition celebrates the exploration of anomalies that defy conventional standards of aesthetics, urging participants to unveil the captivating allure concealed beneath the surface of ordinary perception.

Whether through surreal landscapes, abstract compositions, experimental photography, or innovative mixed media expressions, artists are invited to showcase their interpretations of beauty in the extraordinary and embrace the unconventional with creative fervour.

APE CAMP – OPEN CALL for Artists, Producers and Engineers

Arts Council Korea is a public institution operating under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Since its inception in 1973, its core objective has been to manage the Cultural and Arts Promotion Fund and support a diverse array of cultural and arts projects, thereby fostering the holistic development of culture and arts in South Korea.

APE CAMP aims to serve as a vibrant hub for young artists, producers and engineers, where they embark on a journey to explore the convergent DNA of APEs.

Over three days, 100 participants will be organized into teams based on their respective artistic and technical roles. Together, they will collaborate to generate innovative ideas for art and technology convergence.

During pitching sessions, participants will seize the chance to broaden their networks on a global scale. Outstanding campers will be selected to receive support for an international research trip, where they visit leading institutions specializing in art and technology convergence across the globe. This invaluable experience promises to offer fresh perspectives from the global scene, nurturing creative depth and facilitating advancement in their respective fields.

Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) invites the global art community to participate in our annual 6×6 exhibition. This creative event is a unique opportunity for all, regardless of artistic background and a fun worldwide expression of creativity and support for the arts.

Participating in 6×6 is free and all entries are accepted.
